Accomplishments: One of my proudest accomplishments has been facilitating the USDA Healthy Meals Incentive (HMI) Grant for Rappahannock County Public Schools. This competitive grant program was created to help school districts across the country improve the nutritional quality of their meals and transition toward more scratch-cooking, local procurement, and student-inspired menu innovations. Through this grant, RCPS received both funding and technical assistance, which allowed us to update equipment, provide advanced staff training, and strengthen our farm-to-school partnerships. The grant not only elevated the quality of the meals we serve but also created a foundation for long-term sustainability in healthy school nutrition practices.
I am also deeply proud to be embarking on the Virginia Food for Virginia Kids (VFVK) Cohort initiative, a statewide program led by the Virginia Department of Education. VFVK is designed to transform school nutrition across Virginia by empowering divisions to increase scratch cooking, local food sourcing, and culturally inclusive, student-approved recipes. The program brings school divisions together to share best practices, receive specialized training, and engage in recipe development and taste-testing. For RCPS, joining this cohort means taking our work to the next level—ensuring that students not only have access to healthy meals but also see their local community and cultural preferences reflected on the menu.
Together, these two initiatives highlight my commitment to nourishing students, supporting local farmers, and building a sustainable, community-centered school nutrition program.
Hobbies: Outside of work, I enjoy watching my son play baseball, relaxing with my dogs, spending time with friends and family, and if I’m lucky, squeezing in a beach trip or a camping getaway. These moments recharge me and keep me grounded, giving me the energy to bring my best to the school nutrition program.

Accomplishments: I’m especially honored to have been part of the inaugural Commit to Be Fit team and to serve as the division’s first communications specialist. In my communications role, one of the most rewarding aspects has been sharing the incredible things happening in our schools with the Rappahannock community each and every day.
As a team, Commit to Be Fit has celebrated many exciting accomplishments, from presenting at national and international conferences to publishing a peer-reviewed journal article. However, one achievement stands out as my personal favorite. In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, when so much felt uncertain and disconnected, our team launched a community walking challenge to benefit the Rappahannock Food Pantry. In just 19 days, the Rappahannock community came together and walked an incredible 6,726.3 miles, the equivalent of walking across the country not once, but TWICE! For achieving this goal, a total of 1,525.5 pounds of food were donated to the food pantry. It was truly heartwarming to see our community unite, even while physically apart, to support those in need. Of course, this wasn’t just C2BF's accomplishment; it was RAPPAHANNOCK'S accomplishment. J
